The Joan Cleavers and the Stepford wives of the generations
before us didn’t really know that they an option on whether they wanted to have
a family or not. It was assumed and ingrained in their upbringing that they were
to marry, have children and live their lives around their family. Well times
have changed and thank goodness times have changed.
We can thank reality TV or
the feminist movement, either way the modern American woman now has a choice in
the matter.
Not every woman is born with that innate feeling that they
have to birth and raise a child. It doesn’t mean that woman is less of a woman
or a mean old witch; it just means that she feels that her abilities can be
used successfully elsewhere. And most women find that in their careers.
